I had to capture the part light plays in this portrait and I had to capture the singer's emotion that she puts into her singing.

Because of the harsh lighting there was little shade or shadow to draw in the face. I had to look very hard to find the nuances of light on the skin. They were very subtle

I took the original photo as Brandi sung her song 'The Story'. It's a song she pours a lot of emotion into.
