Given my interest
in art and particularly portraiture, then given a computer, it was
more or less inevitable that I would try my hand at digital art
of some sort. Computer graphics still seems relatively new to me
and anything I know so far is the result of only a couple of years
experience and a lot of hard work. It seems there is always something
else you have to learn. My 'crash course' in computer graphics came
when I was asked to design some graphics for a website called 'Lost
in Stress'. With absolutely no experience, a laptop dropped on my
lap, I was told to just get on with it. Well, I'm still getting
on with it, although we do have our moments....
My
role in the 'Lost in Stress' website was to design a logo and to
come up with a character called Doctor D Stress. I found the challenge
of coming up with this cartoon-like character more 'stressful' than
doing a pencil portrait. I was definitely his first client! Special
thanks goes to Simon Goodman for providing pages of byro doodles,
a couple of which would be key to how the image of the doc would
evolve.
