Portrait
of Diana Princess of Wales 1999 by
Paul Noonan
Pencil
and wash on card
This is one
of my smaller portraits in pencil and wash. There's been many good
photos taken of Diana, Mario Testino's work particulary comes to
mind, but it was a picture in a book at the library that for me
had something different. In this photo she looked, to me, totally
lost in her thoughts. Even with a shawl half covering her head and
not a hint of jewellery in sight, she still had the look of a princess.
Pencil and wash
would lend itself perfectly to this picture. The drapery seemed
to ripple and cascade down from her head and I particularly enjoyed
drawing this.
