The Moment      2010

I settled on calling this picture 'The Moment' because, as I recall that day, she was 'living the moment', she was 'in the moment'. All artists experience 'The Moment'. For me it is when they are at their most creative. It's when things happen that even the artist can't entirely control or rein in. We seek 'The Moment'. The Dancer found it that day.

A big reason why I wanted to draw this portrait was the challenge of drawing 'that hair'. I have seen braided hair in classical style drawings by the PreRaphaelites and the old Italian Masters and here was the perfect opportunity to try my hand.
